hallowed, tinny sound with via ac97 audio controller
hi all, after grappling with my sound problems, i can finally here a cd and ogg file in fc3, but it is sounding hallowed and tinny, like it's miles away, i played with the mixer settings as well as other fixes posted herem and it's weird since this is my third install of fc3 (reinstalled for other issues) and it worked better (sound) on my first 2 installs, any observations on how to make it sound better?
it's the snd-via82xx module that is loaded, the sound detection works, also tinny, with the follwing specs for my card:
via technologies vt8233/a/8235/8247 ac97 audio controller
thanks in advance

I just installed FC3 and the same sound issues as FC1 & 2... the sound card was detected properly as 82801BA/BAM AC'97 audio but the test sound did not work.
As in the past, I launched Kmix and disabled 3D sound and PCM, then moved the headphone slider and master slider up...
If you are using xmms, make sure you have the output correctly set in the program.

hi all, since i posted original post reinstalled fc3 again, it's just gnome, didn't want kde, typed above said command not found, after jacking the volume up, i can hear a test cd i ripped into ogg like skipping, then rhyhmbox hangs, with the sound still skipping, and the test sound skips too getting very disheartned about this, spent past 2 days here reading everyone's problems, really don't wanna leave fedora, i'll keep trying, any other suggestions?
from a patient but getting frustrated fc3 user, thanks to all so far who have helped
