Fedora 16 won't run Virtualbox

On the 64bit Fedora 16 I followed the instructions to install the Virtualbox Repo from virtualbox.org and it is installed. I copied over my old VM's from my Debian install and when I try to run them I was getting an error telling me to run '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

I ran that and ended up getting the following error:

Code:
[root@desktop matt]# service vboxdrv setup

I've been searching the forums and google but most of my knowledge is Debian based so I am not 100% sure I am looking for the right things.

Re: Fedora 16 won't run Virtualbox

There's a ton of info on VirtualBox here in this forum. You will find that you will need things like kernel-devel and gcc at the very least. Start there.
PHP Code:
su
yum install kernel
-devel gcc
Then run
PHP Code:
/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup
See if that works for you. If there are no errors you should be good to go.

Oh, and welcome to Fedora Forum

I basically did this - more or less

http://www.if-not-true-then-false.co...-red-hat-rhel/

And had zero problems on FC16 - works like a champ.

Thanks! Worked like a charm. I made sure to add kernel-devel and gcc to the list of packages I need to install should I ever reinstall Fedora.

Re: Fedora 16 won't run Virtualbox

Glad it worked. I keep a lot of notes, so I was able to refer to them regarding setting up VirtualBox. After a while you just know what needs to be done though.

Re: Fedora 16 won't run Virtualbox

In case anyone's still having trouble, you may need to install kmod-VirtualBox-OSE and then run /etc/sysconfig/modules/VirtualBox-OSE.modules (this works if you're using the virtualbox repo for fedora 16)
