Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
I think I found a bug with the display settings. It crashes whenever I try to access that dialog with a projector attached without mirrored displays. I have to logout and go into Gnome to change the settings.

Installed cinnamon 1.4 and it is working lovely on my terminal. But when I connect remotely through VNC it will not. It will go to gnome3 fallback mode. Any workaround for this?

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
Does gnome-shell run in fall back mode as well? If so, that's not cinnamon's problem.

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
That may be the case. How to test this?

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
If you use GDM, just pick gnome shell in the session drop down menu.

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
Seems to be a issue between gnome 3(d) and vnc. Vnc will always send gnome into fallback. I don't care if it would be a ciinamon fallback mode. More about layout then fancy 3d graphics

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
Both, 2 different servers. But it really doesn't matter since the card/driver is not used by vnc. From googleling gnome 3 vnc, it seems there is a general problem between the 2. No solution found yet.

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
Seabird, you could try mate. IIRC, it's a fork of gnome 2, so it's locked into "fallback mode." I installed it per the thread in guides, and it worked fine. I prefer cinnamon, but that's not an option for vnc, it sounds like.

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
I am using Cinnamon now for a week (first tried Xfce but it did not click), Cinnamon is really what Linux desktop wanted all these years for success!
I have found two bugs, where can I file them?
1- It is 100% reproducible, open Eclipse CDT, go and change some environment variable, and hit apply, a dialog appears that seems Eclipse hangs, then try to close Eclipse, dialog shows message asking for confirmation, click OK, dialog background remains on screen in a transparent box that does not have any process attached to it.
2- In Nautilus when typing a name for quick search, the input box appears below the panel, making it hard to read as I type
What is the status on the review, that makes bug reporting easier, if nothing else.
