Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
After a few adjustments, I finally have useful .xsession-error logs. Not that it means much to me.

This was all that happened during the try-to-login time frame.

Yep:

zsh:1: datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden: /usr/bin/gnome-session

Obviously, it just can't find the necessary data.
I'm on KDE spin. Maybe it just lacks correct dependencies on gnome-session packages?

zsh ?, what shell are you using?
There's a known bash bug, try
Code:
su
yum reinstall bash

Ehm, I use zsh.
Found in /bin/zsh, added to /etc/shells myself one day so I could use chsh...
How is this related?

It isn't.
I checked the package deps and it's missing gnome-session
You could run to fix it
Code:
su
yum install gnome-session

I did. Now a popup appears: "Failed to load session 'cinnamon'".

Re: Cinnamon guide for F16 (replacement for gnomes-hell)
As I use the KDE spin, I also use kdm. Is that another dependency that's missing?
Reinstalling cinnamon did not make it.

Can you do me a favour?
Code:
su
yum install gnome-shell
Try and log into a gnome-shell session, when it fails can you file a bugreport against gnome-shell stating that it has missing deps (the cinnamon spec file was based on it).

EDIT: That was it. The fast and dirty solution was to chmod 777 the whole folder and all contents, and it popped right up. Not an ideal solution, but as much as I've been messing around with themes ... probably easier.
