Fedora 16 won't boot with more than 2GB of RAM.

Hi All,

I'm relatively new to fedora and haven't been able to find any help while searching google so i thought i'd chance my arm on the forum.

I have recently installed fedora 16 onto my Dell PC, it boots up fine with 2 x 1G ram DIMM's, but as it will be running VM Player and a VM i thought i would add some more RAM. i have an extra 4 x 1G DIMMS.

If i add 1 or 2 of the extra DIMM's the OS won't boot. I get the Blue circle with the F in the middle of the screen but then it just hangs and i eventually need to power off.

All six DIMM's are Kington iGB 2Rx8 PC2 -5300U, and i'm pretty sure they are ok as they have come from a different identical machine running centos.

Below is a dmidecode output:

[root@brassmonkey ~]# dmidecode -t 0,1,2,4,5,6,17
dmidecode 2.11

SMBIOS 2.4 present.

Re: Fedora 16 won't boot with more than 2GB of RAM.

Have you installed either PAE kernels or 64 bit Fedora 16?
Beasue 32 bit cant handle 4 gb ram, unless with PAE.
