Angry Fedora 16 booting into Low Graphics Mode

Hello.

This is my first time trying Fedora (I've used many distros before, including Arch Linux), but I've decided to try it out.

After jumping over hurdles with partition failures, I finally got the damn thing to work. However, when I reboot, Fedora loads up in low graphics mode and GNOME3 starts in Fallback mode. I think this is due to the fact I installed Fedora in Low Graphics mode (Normal Graphics mode wasn't possible - my CD drive isn't fast enough to run high end Linux distros).

How do I get it to boot up in Normal Graphics mode? Is there any config files? Or is there an option in GRUB?

Please help,
Josh Robertson.

Try renaming the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. It is created when you select basic graphics during installation (it specifies "vesa" in the driver section).

Huh?
So, shall I just call it "_xorg.conf" or something and the X server 'll create a new one?

Usually, it doesn't need one.

xorg.conf (or more correctly the files in xorg.conf.d) are used only to override selections made automatically.

Re: Fedora 16 booting into Low Graphics Mode

I've renamed "xorg.conf" and rebooted.

When I got to GRUB a third item had been added to the list. It still loads up into Low Graphics Mode!

I know for a definate it's not my GFX card because I've used GNOME3 before and I've never had graphic card problems either...

Re: Fedora 16 booting into Low Graphics Mode

I've renamed "xorg.conf" and "xorg.conf.d". Nothing.
I deleted them. Nothing.
I was going to reinstall Xorg, but then I remembered when I did that on Arch Linux - that didn't go well at all. I couldn't even get Linux to run in text mode.
It still boots in Low Graphics Mode.
Instead of tediously reinstalling and editing config files, I'm just gonna go ahead and reinstall. Besides, I've just realised that I've layed out my partitions wrong.

Can an Admin or Mod please Lock this thread, thanks.
