Autoload current config packages at upgrade?

Wondering if there's a way to automatically query the current config/packages/etc. and then have something like a personalized "easyLife" that will automatically find and install everything that was on the system after a fresh install or upgrade.

Anything like that? I'd be happy with either a series of command line items or something with a GUI. I've found easyLife very convenient but it only loads about half the things I need. It would be great to have as much of the tweaks I've done to my current system carry over each time I upgrade.

Thanks very much for any suggestions or ideas...
