[SOLVED] Cannot mount anything - F16 KDE

I'm somewhat new to Fedora (been using Ubuntu for years...) and encountered a strange problem today:
whenever I plug in device (Kindle, Android Phone, USB Key...) I'm only getting the following message when trying to access the device via KDE:
"An error occurred while accessing DEVICENAME, the system responded: The requested operation has failed.: Error creating moint point: Permission denied"
(yeah, I actually does say MOINT point ^^)
The same happens when I try to mount a TrueCrypt Volume.

I can't find anything suspicious in /var/log/messages.
Tried setting the permission of /media to 755, didn't help.

Any suggestions?

[EDIT]:
OK, now I'm really worried...now I can't even create directory as root in /media:
[root@work media]# mkdir test
mkdir: cannot create directory `test': Permission denied
Still, the permissions are set to 755?

From a terminal, does 'dmesg' reveal any further evidence?

the reason why you cannot mount to /media is because is already used by tmpfs: a virtual memory sys use by applications.
in fedora you should try to munt youd disk in the /mnt forlder (i know Ubuntu lets use both /media and /mnt with no distinction)

to mount the disk try
(first install hfs modules)

sudo mkdir /mnt/disk_2

@fdrake, thanks for all your help!
The sdb disk wasn't the one causing the trouble - my /etc/auto.master was the culprit!

As you guessed, coming from Ubuntu, I used to use fstab to automount my smb shares on my NAS. Following a guide for Fedora 16 I use /media as a starting point for my smb shares.
After correcting the path to /mnt everything works again as it should
