Blank screen screensaver VS turning display off

I currently have my computer set to turn the display off after 2 minutes. I notice when I come back to use the computer the display is comes on but is not as bright as it should be for a few seconds. Am I hurting the display or should I use the blank screen screensaver?

The screen is an LCD display with LED providing the backlight.

Are you sure you have an LED backlight and not a CCFL backlight?

Quite sure. This notebook is only 6 months old and one of the selling points was a LED backlighted LCD screen. Listed here on the product specs as a LCD backlight.

Did you try taking off the shades when you walk back into the room?

Re: Blank screen screensaver VS turning disply off

Have you tried setting one of the non-blank screen screensavers and setting the display to automatically shut off in a couple minutes to a few seconds?
