Java Web Start issues on Fedora 16 (x86_64)

Anyone else having issues with Java Web Start on Fedora 16 (x86_64)? Firefox is trying to open jnlp files with gedit, but even if I download them and try and run them manually via javaws it's having problems. I haven't found any that work yet, but they fail for different reasons. Seems like it might be XML related.

No problems with Java Web Start for me in F16 x86_64. I just opened the Geogebra jnlp file with javaws, using Oracle's JDK 1.7.0_01; it worked fine.

I using the base java-1.6.0-openjdk with icedtea-web, or at least trying to. It's worked for me in the past.

Geogebra jnlp appears to run fine when I download the jnlp and run it manually with javaws, but it doesn't launch from Firefox. Tries to open with gedit so it looks like maybe I have a couple different issues: javaws isn't working for apps it used to and the icedtea plug-in isn't handling the jnlp properly.

Firefox 7 simply needed the Content Type association for jnlp set to javaws. Not sure why it wasn't already there. I guess I'll have to compare with F15 and see what puts it there and possibly open a bug report.

Re: Java Web Start issues on Fedora 16 (x86_64)

Yep, just for reference I just hit this too. Try to run the KVM portion of the intel remote management module 3 on a server class chassis, and I get jviewer.jnlp loading in gedit. Also F16 and also x86_64 (though I doubt arch has anything to do with it). It used to work ok on F14. Aggree its probably missing the association. icedtea-web-1.1.4-4.fc16.x86_64 is installed.

Update: got it going by installing the oracle JRE, editing the jviewer.jnlp, fixing the target servers IP address (was missing a decimal place) and changing the protocol from https to http, then running javaws /tmp/jviewer.jnlp Probably the file editing is because of bugs in the intel software, but I just put it here for anyone who lands on this thread looking for rmm3 info.
