With the rhythmbox error.. it is possible that some of the audio/video codecs didn't get updated properly from rpmfusion when you did the upgrade.. Have you run a complete yum update on your system since you upgraded?
@DBelton: Problem!!!!! After the fixes given by you there is a serious problem. I am not able to hear things in Head Phones. I mean, when I set the Sound Output to "Analog Output", I can hear in my head phones very softly, but if I set it to "Analog Speakers" I can hear clearly in my headphone and also in through the speakers!!!! Headphones are not muting the speakers Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Fedora 16. HDA Intel(ALC833). Sound stop working after upgrade.

See if you have an automute setting in alsamixer

In a terminal window

Code:
alsamixer -c 0 -V all
There you will see the slider controls for various things, like Master, PCM, Front, etc...

You may need to use the right arrow to scroll horizontally until you get to see everything..

Look for a setting called "Automute"

The up/down arrow will toggle that setting on or off.. Sounds like you wish it to be set On

I could see the headphones setup with others... increased everything: headphones / PCM/ Speakers / Capture to 100 hope that's ok..... but sadly, I don't see the auto mute option anywhere

Re: Fedora 16. HDA Intel(ALC833). Sound stop working after upgrade.

I solved it. Realized that while fixing this issue, had created a file /etc/modprobe.d/snd_hda_intel.conf and had added a line:

options snd-hda-intel model=generic

which was causing the problem. Deleted the file and rebooted, works fine now

@DBelton Thanks for all your assistance. Really Appreciate it.
