yum broken?

Trying to run yum, I get this:

Quote:
sqlite3.DatabaseError: database disk image is malformed
I got this problem several weeks ago. I tried several sequences of several solutions that I found from googling, and eventually got this cleared up. But now it is back, and the same solution doesn't seem to work.

Things I have tried:

[root@foghorn ~]# rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db.*
[root@foghorn ~]# rpmdb --rebuilddb

[root@foghorn ~]# yum clean all
[root@foghorn ~]# yum makecache

[root@foghorn ~]# yum --noplugins update

Please help. This is frustrating!

TIA

ken

PS:
[root@foghorn ~]# uname -r
2.6.40.6-0.fc15.x86_64

Re: yum broken?

If yum returns nothing when you run something like yum check-update then there's simply no updates available. It doesn't necessarily mean yum is broken.

PHP Code:
[glenn@fedora16 ~>$ yum check-update

Try a few other "test" commands.

yum info yum and yum repolist

Re: yum broken?

When I run "yum check", it is ok. If I run "yum check-update", I get a list of the updates okay. When I run "yum update" the packages all download, but I get the error when it starts to run the transactions.

I could, however, run rpm on all of the downloaded packages okay.

After doing that, "yum update" returns okay, reporting nothing to update.

Question Re: yum broken?

Newbie Q;
Hello, new to Fedora. Just upgraded to F16. Found "Fuduntu" site (fusionlinux site) to download Chromium for install, it didn't work, but since then the YUM is unusable, and always ends with the following msg in Terminal .

(site won't let inclusion of message - essentially yum keeps trying different mirrors to find Fuduntu, is unsuccessful, and nothing else can be installed...)

Tried yum clean yum, no help.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Re: yum broken?

Tried that as well, just repeated. Here is the msg that won't go away, no matter what I do - cannot get rid of this msg. See below. Have considered uninstalling F16 and reinstalling.

Just tried to copy and paste error msg , bu the Fedora Forum won't let me post - this is the Forum msg:
" Post denied. New posts are limited by number of URLs it may contain and checked if it doesn't contain forbidden words."

Basically, the YUM keeps getting re-directed to trying to find and install Fuduntu, and then tries another mirror when it fails, and then fully stops. YUM will not do anything else. Thanks for your reply.

Re: yum broken?

Occasionally yum will 'get stuck' on an package, neither allowing an install or a removal as well as blocking other packages from installing to completion.

Try:
rpm -e packagename --noscripts
