Adding icons to toolbar

Greetings,

I just installed Fedora 16. Gnome 3 graphics is just not for me. Looks pretty, but takes too much time to get things done, more mouse clicks, etc. I'm now in failsafe mode and have been able to get icons on the desktop again. But one thing I really use is the icons on the tool bar. I put firefox, calculator, and terminal on the tool bar. I especially like the terminal since I'm in and out of terminal all day. I was nice to have this as only one mouse click. So far I haven't been able to find a way to get this done.

I have no problems in adding icons from the desktop to the launcher (in a fall-back session).
I guess you also want to have the terminal as an icon on the toolbar but you can't drag it from the menu to the launcher?
If that is the case you can just create a desktop launcher.
Leave type as application, give it some name (terminal), and as command type gnome-terminal (no need to set the icon manually).
next drag that icon to the toolbar.

ps. if you aren't able to create a launcher from right click, just adjust an already existing icon on the launcher.
