Terminal session open with dir listing

Whenever I open a new terminal session, it opens with showing my directory listing. How can i remove the directory listing command?

Depends.

first look in your .profile, .bashrc, .cshrc (depending on shell) for a "ls" command, assuming it is being used.
second look in /etc/profile.d... for the same thing.

JPollard thanks for the prompt response. Can you please explain me more what to look for in .profile, .bashrc or /etc/profile.d . I am using fedora 12 and bash shell.

The "ls" command is usually what is used to make a directory listing.

Look for that command...
