To Those Who Respond To Rants....

A "Rant" is generally an expression of frustration and a bit of anger. Something's ruined his day and he's vocalizing. Maybe we have suggestions, maybe we can fix his day, maybe not. BUT, we who respond are often the core members of the Forum and our responses demonstrate how friendly and helpful FedoraForum is to every potential new member or to anyone looking for a bit of help.

When you take an aloof or angry tone in your response, or poke fun at the poster, you're not helping the poster, the Forum or your own image. If you have a decent comment, suggestion or want to sympathize, then that's fine. If all you can do is poke fun at the guy, then please don't comment at all. There are many other threads and posters who need your expertise. Go help them instead.

Re: To Those Who Respond To Rants....

I'm stressed to point out that bob probably implicitly included female ranters as well. Or he (?) has scientific proof that ranting is gender-predisposed

Re: To Those Who Respond To Rants....

After nearly 48 years of marriage, I understand that ladies might have different ways to express their displeasure. For instance, when things go wrong, I rant. My wife just sharpens knives and looks strangely at me....

In any case, same thing applies, whether male or female.

What bob is saying is that if you're not a core member of the Fedora forum (like me), you are welcome to respond with both guns a blazin'.

Re: To Those Who Respond To Rants....

I don't presume to speak for Bob, but I don't think that's what he's saying at all.

Obviously, we all have our way of viewing things, but people get frustrated and vent. That is one reason I first suggested such a sub forum, so that folks could vent and not worry about being criticized for it. Unfortunately, it hasn't turned out that way, in part, fault of some of the ranters taking themselves too seriously and some of forum members taking it as if they'd had a member of their family attacked.
(Not just Fedora of course. As a dedicated reader of cracked.com, I know that we humans like to be part of a group.)

Re: To Those Who Respond To Rants....

As usual smr54's pretty accurate. The sub-Forum is all about just blowing off steam when things have gone insanely wrong. It's not about asking for fixes or asking other members to point out your errors, it's about SCREAMING and since nobody else within 100 miles uses linux or Fedora, you've been holding it in far too long!

We certainly have very knowledgeable members who might be able to make things "all better" but if it starts getting to actual solutions, we'll move the thread over to another sub-Forum. This one's just for frustration!

My post was more to make sure that folks don't read your post and think it's serious. Sorry, I'm multitasking and doing a bad job of it.
