nouveau driver awesome or something else?

i have yum upgraded from fresh fedora 15 --> fedora 16.

The most important thing i noticed was, vast improvement in HD video playback in Fedora 16. I haven't installed nvdia drivers , even without vdpau , nouveau driver works great.(even better than F15 with nvidia driver)

or is it something else? like enhancements in codecs and gstreamer (i doubt that would affect so much).

does anyone have similar experience with default drivers? or am i missing something?

clearly(for me atleast) this is a great evidence that, with time , patience and hardwork FOSS always pwns Proprietory soft.

The nouveau drivers work flawless on my fedora 16 x86-64 beta installation. Far better than in Fedora 15.
Unfortunately, i switched to the Nvidia Drivers, which are causing a lot of trouble for many of us as you can see in the forum.
I 'd say there is no need to use them unless you want to play 3D games under wine. If you are happy with the nouveau drivers and have a Nvidia card, wait until the problems are solved before you switch to Nvidia - That's my personal opinion.
