error: mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: No such file or directory

I have compiled a new kernel(linux-3.0.0) this afternoon. But when I reboot my system, I got an error:
Quote:
Unable to access resume device (UUID=3cbed94b-dd95-42f4-933f-b8d68bf538d9)
mount:error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: No such file or directory
I've tried many method found on this forum,But it doesn't work.
Part of menu.lst

result of blkid:
Code:
[xunao@localhost ~]$ blkid
/dev/sda8: TYPE="swap" LABEL="SWAP-sda8" UUID="3cbed94b-dd95-42f4-933f-b8d68bf538d9"
/dev/sda7: LABEL="/" UUID="610a231f-5668-4f9b-be4c-a97ded78e639" TYPE="ext3" SEC_TYPE="ext2"
I found the UUID of swap partition is the same that appeared in the error.
I have rebuilt the initrd-3.0.0.img with mkinitrd:
Code:
mkinitrd -f initrd-3.0.0.img 3.0.0
But the problem all the same!

Current OS is Fedora 10 (2.6.27.5-117.fc10.i686)
Any help will be appreciated!

I would say that mkinitrd is most likely not including the kernel driver module that you need for your harddisk controller. Do a mkinitrd --help I am sure there is an option to include it like --with but you are using a very old fedora version 10 and I don't have that anymore.

Thank you for your suggesting! I am a novice in linux. It's difficult for me to find out which module is need for my harddisk controller. I tried to install fedora 15. but it can't find my harddisk. This is really terrible!

Re: error: mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: No such file or directory

Is there an option in your BIOS to change the controller from AHCI mode to SATA mode?

Sometimes changing that setting or updating the BIOS allows the drives to be recognized.
