Installed F15 and Grrrr!

So, I bit the bullet as I threatened elsewhere and I must say %^&$%^^ As this is a family forum I will refrain. I've been installing Fedora since FC5 and I have to say this was the most troublesome install I've ever had.

To cut a long story short (It took FIVE installs before I figured it out) every time I installed the nVidia drivers the thing would hang on boot! I had installed the PAE kernel and disabled Selinux before installing the drivers even!

Went back to a previous kernel and it booted to fallback mode and I noticed that xorg.conf hadn't been overwritten by the installer. renamed it and renamed the nvidia-xorg.conf, rebooted and there it was in all its gory glory.

No time to install any software or codecs. There I was thinking I'd be up and running in an hour or so! Yeah, right!

Re: Installed F15 and Grrrr!

And maybe the solution to a boot problem someone else is looking for!

Need to spend more time with Gnome Shell to form a real opinion on it. Although, like many folks my initial reaction to it was 'The end of the world is nigh'

I gave KDE a fair shake and got to like it so now it's GS's turn, if that's possible.

So, I think I'll lock the door and tell my customers to go home, go upstairs and play with it for a bit.... Uhhh, no, that's probably not a good idea... I should take a pint upstairs with me

If I end up breaking it I still have this Mac or my laptop....
