Trying to install Firefox 3.6.20 on Fc15

I am checking out FC15. I did a fresh install and I now trying to customize it for my needs. I go to some places that do not run on Firefox 4, 5, or 6. They do run on Firefox 3.6.19. I need to install Firefox 3.6. The only version I can get is 3.6.20. I downloaded it, extracted it from the tar file and tried to run it. When I try to run it I get the following message:

/firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I tried to install libgtk-x22 using yum, but nothing was found. I then told yum install libgtk*. A bunch of stuff got loaded, but Firefox still fails with the same message. What go I need to install to get this to work?

Thanks.

If I were you, I would download a 3.6.n rpm from here : http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/p...o?packageID=37
The release tag shouldn't matter.
once downloaded try the following to install.

yum localinstall --nogpgcheck *.rpm

First, remove the one you have now installed .

Re: Trying to install Firefox 3.6.20 on Fc15

I did this with F15 because I needed a 3.6 Firefox for work. I've forgotten the details now but here's the thread.

It did work, but I eventually found it easier to run FF 3.6.x in Windows 7 under virtualbox on a Fedora host. I don't remember why, but It was simpler that way.

Edit: You also may want to consider debian stable. It runs Iceweasel 3.5.16 by default.
