gedit problems

I'm pretty new to Fedora and Linux in general. I'm using Fedora 15 on my Dell Inspiron 17R (dual booting with Win7)

I'm trying to edit the GRUB menu after an update, but when I try to gedit the menu.lst file, I'm getting an error.

(gedit:1884): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Failed to connect to the session manager: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported

g_dbus_connection_real_closed: Remote peer vanished with error: Underlying GIOStream returned 0 bytes on an async read (g-io-error-quark, 0). Exiting.
Terminated

Is this an error I can resolve? Did I do something to break it? Any help would be appreciated

Re: gedit problems

Try this first...
Code:
su -
Instead of just this...
Code:
su
If you have sudo configured, it also probably will open up gedit with root privileges (it does for me anyway).
Code:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/grub.conf
And then there are nano, vi, emacs to try.
