f15 installer crashes while writing partition layout
Trying into install fedora. I am setting up my system as a dual boot over two drives. I have set up a custom layout and whenever I get to the step to write changes to disc it crashes with an unhandled exception.
I have tried multiple times now, it always crashes.
Here is the first line from the exception report:
Quote:
anaconda 15:31 exception report
Traceback (most recent call first):
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packagees/pyanaconda/storage/devicelibs/swap.py", raise SwapError("swapon failed for '%s'" % device)

Re: f15 installer crashes while writing partition layout
Are you sharing a swap file with another OS ?

Re: f15 installer crashes while writing partition layout
Not sure what that means, but I am setting up a dual boot. I do have a swap partition set up. The errors occur whether I try to install linux first or windows first.

Re: f15 installer crashes while writing partition layout
Have you read through the Installation guide?
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...ide/index.html
Check out the section on Disk Partioning: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...setup-x86.html if you haven't already.

oh... sorry, I thought that your installation was successful, since you mention that gnome couldn't start.
you could try installing from a live CD.

No worries, that is a great thought. I actually was using the live cd, I am going to try the desktop version.

Re: f15 installer crashes while writing partition layout
You could try working around the installer problem by:
1) download and burn the gparted live cd - http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
2) boot the gparted disk and set up your partitions
3) install fedora to the created partitions - you'll still have to assign mount points and so on but anaconda has managed that for me without issues for quite a while
