How to open a rar file in FC13 ?
A few things to note
1) packages "rar" and "unrar" didnt seem to make it into fc13.
2) The fedora forums search is useless for finding information
3) no other info or working instructions can be found on google

Moved to Reviews, Rants & Things That Make You Scream
Why do you always rant?, it isn't constructive.
Google rpmfusion as unrar is non-free and will never be included in the standard fedora repo's.

[solved] How to open rar files on fc13 ?
re-install these: http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration
--------------------
Hello, how is it possible to extract rar files in fedora?
# yum -y install unrar
Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
No package unrar available.
Error: Nothing to do
The rpm fusion repo has enabled=1
It claims that the latest rpm fusion is installed, but does nothing when asked to install rar.
Why wont it download and install rar?

Re: How to open a rar file in FC13 ?
Did you enable the rpmfusion-nonfree repo?
Anyway, you will never find rar/unrar in fedora repos as long as
they are non-free

Re: How to open a rar file in FC13 ?
Cuban_Cigar, you've been here four years now, so it's time to let you in on a little secret! The default vBulletin Search is not going to work for 3-letter words, such as "rar". Frankly, it's not all that good a Search Engine anyhow, but it's what's provided. That's why we have the SECOND search engine - the Google/Fedora one! And, if you plug your search in there, you'll find loads of good threads such as: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=240937

You probably don't have the non-free repo installed, if you just want unrar try
Code:
su
yum --nogpgcheck install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/updates/13/i386/unrar-3.9.10-3.fc13.i686.rpm

Re: How to open a rar file in FC13 ?
Note that p7zip will accomplish the same thing, with the same flags, and is actually a bit faster than urar (at least in my experience, with a rough benchmark using the time command.)
yum install p7zip p7zip-plugins (I think that's the Fedora, name, I'm on a CentOS box.)
Then 7z e myfile.rar
