Re: f15 64bit skype crash when video is started

I installed the 32bit version of Skype on my 64bit F15/KDE, but video just never worked until I added the PRELOAD in the launcher.

Suicide? lol, I guess it just doesn't like you.

Does your RAM get eaten up just before the crash? It's kinda of sounding like a driver issue. Trying running video in another app for a long while and see if that crashes.

Re: f15 64bit skype crash when video is started

So the driver works in other apps, so the assumption is that Skype is trying to do something that your camera doesn't support or maybe the the Skype install is bad or incomplete.

You can try the old Windows solution, uninstall/reinstall. Plus make absolutely sure you have installed all the libs that are needed but not dependencies under Skype. There are a number of other threads that provide that list.

Here are some:
qt qt-x11 libXv libXss libXScrnSaver pulseaudio-libs pulseaudio-libs-glib2 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio libv4l

Re: f15 64bit skype crash when video is started

Just occurred to me that you might need to have the 32bit version of your video driver installed if not already done.
