Re: Unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

Hi sleife
I've had the same error messages on my F15 system some days ago (latest official Fedora 32bit Kernel running on my desktop system with old Elitegroup ECS NFORCE4M-A v1.1 mainboard). The boot process was terribly slow and my USB keyboard didn't work. So i suspected the USB port on my old PCI extension slot card (USB v1) being responsible for this error (I also suspected the keyboard and the mainboard as well as some updates I installed lately). My solution was to unplug the keyboard and plug it into another USB port (USB v2). Since then everythings works fine again. Either there's something wrong with USB v1 / low speed USB support or it's just a dying PCI-card, I don't know for sure. But at least it's a hint (or it's just coincidence that we came across the same error messages, since your system seems to work despite the error message).

Re: Unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

This usually happens when (1) a USB device or its controller is damaged or (2) it is plugged in incorrectly/loosely.

The front USB ports on my case are a bit too far back and so sometimes the cables will just barely connect... messages like these will then show up in the logs because the system is having trouble communicating with the device.

All that to say, just try unplugging/replugging all of your devices and see if that helps. If not, you can use
Code:
dmesg -c
as root to clear your dmesg output. Try unplugging your devices one by one and then run that command a few times to see which device is not communicating correctly.

Unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

I would be trying another mouse in that box and trying that mouse in another box if possible.
It's worth keeping hold of a couple of retired mice.

Unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

Make sure all your software is up to date.
I noticed there was something like a bus controller bug fix update a few days ago.

As [somewhat] already stated, try another port. They DO go bad.

Re: Unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

I do "yum -y update" yesterday. PC is up to date with yum updates.

Are there another Updates for Fedora?

when I unplugged ALL USB devices (Only 1 Mouse) the error remains.

Re: Unable to enumerate USB device on port 2

Seeing as you only have the mouse plugged in and another mouse triggered the same problem, this sounds like a hardware problem in the USB host controller then. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything except live with the errors (clean the logs often?) or disable that controller entirely, which will stop the affected USB port on that controller from seeing the "ghost" device.
