    Exclamation How to change power settings to stop instant hibernation?

    I'm coming over from Ubuntu and am experiencing the same power issue I had there, only there doesn't seem to be a setting in Gconf in Fedora like there was in Ubuntu that can fix it. You know how the system determines whether or not to hibernate based on the amount of time the battery has been unplugged? Well there's a bug in Gnome that makes it say I have only two minutes left on a full battery, so if I ever unplug my laptop it immediately goes in to hibernation. Now in Ubuntu there was a Gconf Editor setting that could be changed so that it went by percentage, but this option seems to be gone in Fedora. I have Gconf Editor installed but I can't find the setting anywhere. Can someone help me with this please? I know I'm not the only person experiencing it! Thank you in advance!

    gconf-editor is being replaced by gsettings I believe. So you will find certain settings don't work the way they should in gconf or aren't there completely.

    The gui way I believe is with dconf or dconf-editor? I'm not on my linux machine just now so can't tell you for sure - but one of those two.

    Back on my linux machine and yeah it's dconf-editor

    So the deal is

    gsettings (command line) is set to replace gconf-editor and gconftool-2
    gconf-editor & gconftool-2 are still required for some settings that still work, and that aren't found in gsettings
    dconf-editor - gui for gsettings
    gnome-tweak-tool - for ease of access to some settings
    alacarte - editing main menu (with some mixed results)
    gnome-session-properties - for editing startup applications

    I thought I would list all the gnome shell config apps I have been using to-date - maybe good idea to start a sticky?

    Re: How to change power settings to stop instant hibernation?

    Oh, my bad. It was dconf-editor. I had checked all the others already but I couldn't find it in any of them. But they don't seem to have put it in dconf-editor yet either, or even dconf for that matter, so I guess I'm going to have to wait. Fortunately the desktop DID pick up on my settings from Ubuntu and stopped going in to hibernation immediately as it now bases it around the percentage of battery left and not the time left. If I can find them I will post them here.

    ---------- Post added at 09:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:11 PM ----------

    ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-power-manager/general/gconf.xml

    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <gconf>
    <entry name="use_time_for_policy" mtime="1305692573" type="bool" value="false"/>
    </gconf>

    Just change the entry value to false.
