[SOLVED] x11vnc :: tail: cannot watch /tmp/x11vnc.tray.*

Hello,

By invoking x11vnc with the -gui tray option the TCL/TK GUI attempts to embed itself onto the system tray, but I encounter the error message "tail: cannot watch /tmp/x11vnc.tray.*", after the first settings dialog approved [clicked OK]. I believe that a package is still missing to be installed and this is not really a software bug. I use the XFCE version shipped along F15, and the GUI can be started but not as a docked-applet.
Has any1 solved this on XFCE ?

This is fixed upstream in the development version (0.9.13) of x11vnc.

The software updater seeks packages among test packages but even still cannot be found.
I am gonna test it, if it as RPM will be available.

Since it hasn't been released yet I don't think you'll find an RPM because it is a minor application (I've never seen one prior to release.)

There are some test binaries at the x11vnc site, one of them will probably run on your system.

Hello Repo Managers,


Many fixes and new features have been introduced in x11vnc-0.9.13 released on 13rd September, however the new package cannot be found neither in the test repo nor in the update repository. I checked the repository of F16 and Rawhide but the last available package to Fedora is 0.9.12. On the page beneath you can see that there is no new package in any Fedora version. Does it mean there is no one how could perform maintenance for this package ?
