Ignore it as the pop-ups are meant for Windoze users to frighten them into buying something they don't need.

Re: virus attack of fedora 14 system

?? as far as I know, mozilla doesn't have the capability of scanning for a virus.

Are you certain it's not one of the websites that pops up a message saying your system is infected, and whatever you select to do it tries to put a virus on your system?

Re: virus attack of fedora 14 system

Just delete it then. Like Leigh said, it's just crap to scare Windows users into buying more crap.

If you're really worried about it then install clamav and a front end if you like (clamgtk, gnome or klamav, kde):
su
yum install clamav clamgtk
exit
Besure to edit freshclam.conf and update the virus definitions:
su
freshclam
exit
Both clamgtk & klamav will then give you a pretty little gui. But it's primarily to protect your windows friends.

Re: virus attack of fedora 14 system

A disadvantage An advantage of Fedora is that it doesn't run Windows executables (including viruses) by default. These pop-ups are aimed at Windows users (due to Windows's market share) and it's unlikely that they would infect your system.
