xfree all messed up

So just installed fc3, X will start but nothing looks right (screen flicker, windows halfway transparent).

The system is a compaq deskpro EN, with an intel 810 or 815 videocard.

So far I've been told to try "modprobe intel-agp" which gives me : FATAL: Module intel_agp not found.

Any help would be appreciated, new to fedora with a bsd background.

Thanks.

Here's the device section in my xconfig

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "i810"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "Intel 815"
EndSection

Same problem here. Using a Dell Dimension GX110 with built in i810 video card. Multiple 110's doing same thing.

FC1 and FC2 were fine. Tried both setup and system-config-display. Tried variations of resolutions. Even tried different monitors. Nothing worked.

I got the same thing with modprobe intel-agp as you did.

Anybody know what is going on with these onboard i810 chipsets. Can't really begin using FC3 until I get this resolved.

somebody responded in another post that this is a kernel problem with 2.6.9 kernel shipping with FC3. Looks like we must wait for kernel update. I have found some support evidence of frame buffer problems on 2.6.9 with intel video.

My coworker discovered the following workaround which might help most of you until a kernel update is out.

In /etc/X11/xorg.conf, make sure your video section includes
Options "noaccel"

See my section below: This worked for me

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "i810"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "Intel 810"
Option "noaccel"
EndSection

Just FYI:

I downloaded a newer kernel release via YUM and now my i810 works without any modification. The newer version that worked for me is ;

kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3
