F15 (Lovelock) -> HOWTO get Video, Sound and Flash to work!

Heyas,

due to its philosophy, there is no mp3/dvd support shipped with Fedora.
Anyhow, we're working here just for the very basic support.

Some now may say "Oh thats bad, having to do that my self..".
I say: "Using such a great OS, is worth that 10mins work to get sound and video."

The basic Videosupport we get with Livna:
http://rpm.livna.org/repo/15/x86_64/...0-1.x86_64.rpm
Note: If you're not using the 64bit Version, click the providers name and browse for your build/arch...

Now that we can play our DVD's, the according sound output would improve your cinematic experience alot
Therefore we're about to visit RPM Fusion:
First we install the FREE Codecs: http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...ble.noarch.rpm
Then the NONFREE Codecs: http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfr...ble.noarch.rpm

Now, last but not least we're heading for the flash plugins.
While Adobe provides only 32bit with full 'support', we're about to install/execute that YUM repositry, and then simply run:

yum install flash-plugins

Speaking for myself, i'll prefer the current 64 bit:

wget  http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer10_2_p3_64bit_linux_111710.tar.gz
tar xfvz flashplayer10_2_p3_64bit_linux_111710.tar.gz
sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins
mv libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins

Note: to copy the file, you'll need root-rights, however, you cannot move the file to root/.mozilla directory, as this not exists, be sure to leave root mode after you've done the copy.

By now, you should be fully Multimediable

However, i still do prefer my beloved VideoLan.org

 su
   yum install vlc
   yum install mozilla-vlc (optional)

Be sure to 'finalize' the media installation with a:

sudo yum upgrade

That'll work. Or ... you could just go up to the top of this page, click Fedora Set-Up Guides, and run either Dave's AutoPlus, or Duli's Easy_Life.

I haven't tried mjmwired's Install Guide for a while, but I'm betting they still work good as ever.

Oh jees, sorry.
Well i did search for "sound", "video" and "dvd" tags in the forum, but since none of these guides are labled with with such a tag, i thought i write my own
Figured: One how knows he needs rpmfusion or libdvdcss, wouldnt need a guide at all

It does, that's what I follow(ed). Yes I should probably just install easylife or autoplus, but doing it manually isn't hard and doesn't take that long and I only have to do it if preupgrade doesn't work.
