Re: Fedora 15 Final Release Candidate 1 (RC1) Available Now!
Noob question here. Will it update automatically to stable version someday?

Re: Fedora 15 Final Release Candidate 1 (RC1) Available Now!
* My experience with RC1
- Downloaded DVD, put on usb stick for install.
- startup installer, choose option 1.
- Installer tells me I need a network connection once drives are setup. Can't cancel out of it, or click foward. Tell it to use eth0 hoping the lack of connection will let me move forward. Drops me back to the need network prompt. Give up and give it the wireless info.
- Proceeds to download all packages again. Seemingly, as usb key is not flashing anymore and wireless led going mad.
- Reboot and complete user setup, greeted by black screen instead of gdm.
- Switch to free console, dmesg shows segfaults from gnome-session.
- Run yum upgrade though don't expect much to happen, proceeds to download/upgrade 78 packages.
- Reboot and everything works great.
I guess I didn't actually test the RC1 dvd, since it used a network setup for some reason, though didn't get all the latest packages.

that's what happens if you put it on a USB stick by some methods. We really don't exactly support or test writing the DVD installer to USB, though lots of people seem to want to do it.

Will a LiveCD also be released?

Isn't the Beta RC2 newer than the final RC1? I'm just curious to know!
Thnx.

Re: Fedora 15 Final Release Candidate 1 (RC1) Available Now!
no.
beta rc2 = the second release candidate for the Beta release.
final rc1 = the first release candidate for the final release.
any 'final' compose is newer than any 'beta' compose, any 'beta' compose is newer than any 'alpha' compose. final tc1 would be newer than beta rc8. =)
we may switch the names around a bit for f16 as they are a bit confusing; these images used to be restricted to a pretty tiny audience so it never really showed up as a problem before.
there will no RC1 live images; it would be pointless as a) we already knew there would have to be an RC2 as soon as we did the first RC1 tests, and b) turns out there's a bug in the RC1 package set that would make any live image composed with that package set unbootable. So RC2 is being composed now, with fixes for those bugs, and will have live images.

Re: Fedora 15 Final Release Candidate 1 (RC1) Available Now!
Hi,
I am on F15 beta RC2 I guess. Since the Release Candidate was released I had no update via 'yum update or upgrade', is it normal?
I have active these repos:
Fedora 15 - x86_64
google-chrome
RPM Fusion for Fedora 15 (Free, Free-test, Nonfree, Nonfree-test)
Fedora 15 - x86_64 - Test Updates
this list I see, when I run yum repolist.
So are there really no updates for two days, or am I missing any repos?

lipisak: that's normal. it doesn't really matter what 15 pre-release you installed exactly, if you keep doing updates you get the latest f15 package set. it's only relevant for live images or at install time.

Adam, can I ask if a date has been set for the "go or no go" meeting has been set, where it's decided if RC images are considered gold? Also, will you be announcing the result in these forums once the decision has been made? I like to get in quick.
