How do I get rid of the bluecurve theme?
I would like to have the original GNOME appearance on Linux - without the red hat logo etc. - just GNOME as it looks per default. So, how do I achieve this?
Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure I know what you mean. The default in Fedora Core 2 includes the blue background with the Red Hat Icon - is that what you are seeing?
You can change the background by right clicking on the desktop and choose default background. The get the default theme use Theme Manager from preferences and select the default theme.
See if that works.

yum install gnome-themes
And as far as I remember it ships the GNOME theme with it. Under preferences -->themes

Select KDE from the session menu option of the Xserver login screen.
Then use the KDE control panel to select Karmack or some other scheme of your choosing.

Sorry if I had not made clear what I wanted.. Well, I'd just love to have my GNOME look like for example on this screenshot:

...with the foot logo instead of the redhat logo etc.

One more time :
Install the gnome-themes package. With yum ( http://fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware) or just try to find the rpm.
Then go to preferences (Präferenzen) ->Theme (Thema)
There you choose one of the given themes.
And when you have chosen one, go to Themendetails and there on the menu Symbole. There you can choose GNOME.

After doing what Ilja describes I found that you may need to log out and log in to see the red hat on the left of the panel change into a Gnome foot.
