Ralink rt3090 WLAN stopped working after system update

That darned Ralink rt3090 wireless card again -

I recently clicked yes to install en masse the usual heap of updates that had accumulated, after which the WLAN was absent (again!). The network connections icon does not offer Wireless, only Wired Network

Re-tracing the steps I took to get it working originally -

I re-booted, checked the BIOS and saw WLAN enabled ok.

I did a yum reinstall of the recommended driver kmod-rt2860

I re-checked /etc/modprobe.d and saw blacklist-rt2800usb.conf is still in place

Have I missed something?

What is the next diagnostic step?

Re: Ralink rt3090 WLAN stopped working after system update

I finally had to give up on this and just reverted to the previous kernel.
In case anyone else is watching and suffering - that is an edit of /boot/grub/grub.conf to change default from 0 to 1)
