No sound in Wine 1.3.18 on F15 x86_64

Hi all!

I have F15 x86_64 (beta of cause). I installed Wine 1.3.18. But there is no sound in wine.
Attempt to test sound in wine results in following error in terminal:

$ winecfg
err:winmm:proc_PlaySound Aborting play loop, waveOutWrite error

On F14 the sound worked if following i686 RPMs were installed: wine-pulseaudio and pulseaudio-libs.

But on F15 this magic does not work any more

Any ideas how to enable sound in Wine?

I have this exact problem on F15 x86_64. Nothing I do in wing_cfg seems to do anything. I have confirmed I have installed the packages wine-alsa and wine-pulseaudio.

Hm. I am just encoutering the same issue on F14. However, I am not sure what is causing the problem. It seems like I am having the same problem, when creating a new prefix and a fresh configuration is generated. If I am running an old existing configuration, the sound is working fine. Maybe this problem is not related to the packages installed on the system, but something went wrong when creating a new wine prefix. So ... I am also intested in a solution

Running applications using wine64 instead of wine helps.
If you want to run winecfg using it, it's .exe is located on your Wine C drive, under ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/winecfg.exe

This could be probably solved also by installing pulseaudio and all it's dependencies for i686 (I haven't tried)

Installing i686 pulseaudio packages did not solve the problem for me. However, he is right. It seems to be a problem with the architecture (at least for me). If just installing wine(32bit) and creating the environment with it, everything is working fine here. This is also the explanation why the old prefix was still working like a charm. Running "wine64" might be a solution for it as well, but I didn't try it.

Its been a while since I've used Wine but if I remember correctly you need alsa-lib.i686 and pulseaudio-libs.i686.

Though, I have not installed wine to test it.

Currently my status is following.

1) I do have alsa-lib.i686 and pulseaudio-libs.i686. But is there is no sound. This approach worked on F14 but does not work on F15.
2) Running wine64 does not help. I don't have error message in terminal, but there is error box from wine "Audio test failed!". And there is no sound.

I'm going to try:
a) update wine to 1.3.19
b) installing wine(32bit) as Phobeus suggests.

I would post the results of my findings here.

Updating to wine 1.3.19 does not help

I was having the same problem as you on F15 64-bit, but managed to fix it by installing:

wine-alsa.i686
wine-alsa.x86_64
alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686
alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.x86_64

OK, problem solved:

I installed wine(32bit) as Phobeus suggests.
And installed wine-alsa.i686 and alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686 as crazymonito suggests.
