Re: gnome-shell doesn't work with nvidia driver -- fallback mode only

Does this all mean I am dead in the water with this build with both nVidia and nouveau not fixable?

You just need to fix the selinux issue or disable it altogether

Checking kmods exist for 2.6.38.2-9.fc15.x86_64 [ OK ]

From my original post of what was updated today...

Code:
Apr 22 09:14:54 Updated: 1:kmod-nvidia-270.41.03-1.fc15.x86_64

---------- Post added at 01:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:57 PM ----------

I loaded

kmod-nvidia-270.41.03-1.fc15.x86_64

and tried to boot but like another poster in another thread, I am getting the akmods.service Failed to load message in post

Is there a fix for this? Or is it related to the selinux as well?

I give up... I am going to rebuild this one just as I had to do the other one and hope the nouveau works just as well on the new install and stay away from nvidia and this process until I get a little more wet behind the ears with Fedora..

Frustrating but exhilarating at the same time... a paradox within a paradigm within a mystery....

Re: gnome-shell doesn't work with nvidia driver -- fallback mode only

The same problem. After updating akmod-nvidia, kmod-nvidia no Nvidia logo and no Gnome shell
Solution: I've installed nvidia drivers NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-270.41.06.run from nvidia webpage. But oops, the same problem.
Solution 2:
File /lib/modules/2.6.38.2-9.fc15.x86_64/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko was not executable, so I set as su: chmod 744 nvidia.ko
Now it works

Wish I could have seen this before the rebuild... may have saved me a lot of heartache...

Well done in getting yours resolved...
