Deleting files on USB sticks

The "Move to Trash" function on F15 works fine on hard disks, including those connected via USB (that is, a subsequent right click on the Trash icon in the Nautilus sidebar will indicate that there are files in the Trash, and will give you the option of deleting those files permanently by emptying the Trash). However, the same is not true of USB sticks. Checking hidden files on the sticks reveals that the deleted files have been moved to a (hidden) trash folder, but there is no corresponding indication on the Nautilus sidebar.

Note that Ubuntu 11.04 handles this situation perfectly well, whether deleting the files from Trash via the Nautilus sidebar or directly via the Trash icon on the Unity dock.

Re: Deleting files on USB sticks

Try shift+del which should delete the file instead of moving it to trash.

Re: Deleting files on USB sticks

Yes, I will try that, but it doesn't address the underlying issue that users don't always want immediately to delete the files completely, but do want to know that there are files awaiting deletion.
