Q: Saving large files on multiple floppies, how?

Hello everybody,
Is there a program that will take a multi-megabyte .tar.gz file and break it up to span multiple floppy disks?

Where do I find it online?

My environment is Fedora Core 2.

Thanks!
CD

Spanning multiple volumes is what the tar (tape archive) utility was built for. Unfortunately, it can't do that with the -z (gzip) option... one method you could use is to split the file and then use cat to merge it back together.

you might also take a look at "rar".

it is NOT part of the fedora distro, (licensing issues etc) but is available for free download.

pretty sure you can find it here http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

unfortunately, it's command line only, but it really is a pretty simple tool to use.
