You will need to tell your computer to boot from the DVD (not from the hard disk); how you do that varies from machine to machine. You may need to change a setting in the BIOS setup, or you may be able to get a "one-time" boot menu.
For example, on this desktop if I press Esc during the first screen the BIOS puts up when I switch on, I get a menu of choices to boot from hard disk, optical drive, USB device etc.
But on my other machine running Fedora, it is F9, not Esc that I need to press.
In short, check the documentation that came with the machine.
