Install Acting Strange?

I am currently running Fedora 14 from a 4GB USB stick with nothing but Fedora on it. Everything seems to run fine. I want to install Fedora on my hard drive now. I click on the icon on the desktop. I select English as my language, it then says it is examining storage devices. or something of that matter, it is just a small window that says something. Then it is gone, and so if the installation window. My cursor is a loading circle everytime I go to my desktop.

Does this mean it is still loading and I need to be patient, or is something wrong? Help...

EDIT: After a while, the loading circle has disappeared and there are no changes. What has gone wrong.?

Re: Install Acting Strange?

Probably need to give more info on your hardware so others can help. Desktop? Laptop?
graphics card? etc. Normally it should only take about 20 minutes to install from a live usb.
That has been my experience with two desktops and 3 laptop installs of Fedora 14 all under 15
minutes from first click of the "install to hard drive" icon to login of new install.
So the more info you supply the quicker we can help you get your install going.

Re: Install Acting Strange?

You might be able to get more details about what is going wrong: by running the installer from a terminal window instead of an icon. You can right click the icon and choose Properties or whatever to discover the command line. Then paste that command line into the terminal window. When you run programs in a terminal window, they have somewhere to display diagnostic messages.
