F15A live cd probs installing to hard drive?

Hi,

Using the F15A KDE live cd, it boots up fine, but on install to hard drive anaconda crashes when it gets to the 'examining' part. Updating to latest anaconda in updates-testing crashes even before anaconda is started.

Anyone else seeing this? worth reporting as a bug or too obvious?

I have the same problem with gnome spin. Also disk utility crashes when i try to format the install partition.

I don't think the fault is general.

I've installed the KDE F15 alpha live CD three times in the past couple of days with no problems.

However, two thoughts for you.

It "may" be hardware specific, in which case a bug report with hardware information may help. It's what the testing phase is about.

Or, in all my installs, I'd created blank space on my hard disk first using PartedMagic, and then took the option to install into free space.

Might be worth trying that as it could help nail down where the problem lies.

Other people have had a similar problem with other operating systems. One common cause is that one of the file systems in one of the partitions is "unclean". It may need a fsck or a chkdsk runing.
Another cause is a damaged partition table.

FWIW using livecd-tools-to-iso --format --reset-mbr sorted out the partitioning problem and correctly made the live cd.

I'll try again and report the anaconda crash as a bug.
