video problem

After updates my screen goes to black, then back to normal, then to black,,,,,,does not stop.
The resolution is off, way off.

Is this an nvidia issue with the latest updates?

My old F14 is stable but the resolution on it is now off on it as well.

Thanks for any info.

Re: video problem

I am using whatever came with the live cd install from the nightlies....not sure the date. Have been doing the updates all along.

I did the updates on the F14 install and the resolution was messed up on that as well.
So, I tried to get the fix going from the help instructions and must have not done something correctly
I toasted that install, so now all I have is the F15 that blinks off constantly.
I shall look into what driver it is using.

Just installed the 3-6 KDE from live cd and the video continues to blink off and on.

I must see if I can go back to and earlier version and wait out the fix.

Here is the info on the driver in KDE, I am pretty sure that it will be the same for Gnome!

Re: video problem

Could not get any F15 to install without black out syndrome.
Starting to think hardware problem.
Went back and installed the latest F14 live.....No problems, at least before updates....

Not a problem with updates and all with F14 live cd.

Also, no real problems with F15 on the ati machine. Downloading Alpha now.

Re: video problem

UPDATE!
I re-installed with alpha live cd. Did the 298 updates. Gnome 3 worked, but the
black out is as before. I rebooted and was unable to login again.
While "lost" in terminal trying to check for more updates (would not connect to server)
I was able to observe "blackouts"

The following repeated over and over every few moments:

"[drm:drm_edid_block_valid] *ERROR* EDID checksum is invalid remainder is 161"

a bunch of other stuff appears then comes

"[drm] neouveau 0000:01:07.0: DDC responded, but no EDID for VGA-1"

Re: video problem

Still working on the one machine (nvidia), seems like it may be a combination problem --- one being a dying video card \

The other machine (ati) is now running just fine with the testing repo disabled.
