xguest issues

First off I'm a Linux novice and a fedora super-novice. I can follow instructions but can't make leaps of logic.

I work at a Public Library and it was suggested by someone over on the Ubuntu Forums that I try xguest for our public access computers.

I installed F14 and managed to get it working correctly on one of our laptops but when i installed xguest it created the guest account on the login but give me a "unable to open session" message when i try to log in.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Re: xguest issues

Hmm, I have never tried it myself, but on other distributions (OpenSuse, Mandriva) xguest is by default installed as a Gnome desktop feature and all you got to do is enable the guest account in the user wizard.

Here is some older information for Fedora:

Soooooo, unless someone else can help you, I'd suggest trying another distribution where it is all configured for you already.

Re: xguest issues

xguest shouldn't need anything extra after being installed.

However, it MUST have SELinux enabled/enforcing. What is the output of:

cat /etc/sysconfig/selinux | grep ^SELINUX=

?

If it is anything other than 'enforcing' then the xguest login won't work.
