Question Rhythmbox and Movie Player - gstreamer plugins not found

Hi,
I recently reinstalled F14 64-bit on SSD and I am having problems with Rhythmbox playing MP3s and Movie Player playing movies, which I didn't before when F14 was on a regular HDD. I put /tmp and /var/tmp on tmpfs and noatime on the other partitions. I have tried using easylife and also fedoraplus, but neither have worked. Audacious plays some of the songs, (I'm not sure which are missing yet, I'm assuming format issues.).

For rhythmbox when I try to play MP3s, it says:

artist-songtitle requires an additional plugin for this operation

The following plugin is required:

GStreamer element audioconvert

Do you want to search for this now?

It doesn't play after I hit close. After I double click the song, a red circle with a white dash sign comes up and if I go to properties to look at it, it says:

Internal GStreamer error: pad problem. Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug....duct=GStreamer.

For movie player, it says:

movie.rmvb requires additional plugins for this operation

The following plugins are required:

GStreamer element audioconvert
GStreamer element deinterlace
GStreamer element videoscale

Do you want to search for these now?

However, the movie plays and I think everything is fine after that. (just annoying because it didn't happen before)

I have tried yum install and yum reinstall gstreamer* from another thread.

Re: Rhythmbox and Movie Player - gstreamer plugins not found

I did many things and I'm not sure which solved the problem, but here are a list of the things I did:

followed this thread:
http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...d.php?t=226057
I found that 10 files were blacklisted after running gst-inspect -b
erased $HOME/.gstreamer-0.10/registry.x86_64.bin
run gst-inspect

there were still 2 files blacklisted
libgstbcmdec.so
libgstpython.so

then yum install pyclutter* (I have no idea what files I installed... I *doubt* this is required. may be skip this step)

then yum erase gstreamer-python
yum install gstreamer-python
yum install rhythmbox*
gst-inspect

gst-inspect -b still shows the same 2 files blacklisted, but somehow it works.
movie-player disappeared, but I have VLC player and seem to have no problem.

Re: Rhythmbox and Movie Player - gstreamer plugins not found

Having the exact same problem here, followed your instructions but still having the same problem. When trying to play an mp3, Rhythmbox still says "the following plugin is required: GStreamer element audioconvert". But, gst-inspect -b shows "libgstaudioconvert.so" as blacklisted. I tried reinstalling gstreamer-plugins-base, and gstreamer-plugins-good, and also removing ~/.gstreamer/registry.i386.bin and running "gst-inspect", and still the same problem.

Re: Rhythmbox and Movie Player - gstreamer plugins not found

Maybe try uninstall and reinstalling rhythmbox?

I don't know exactly what I did that fixed the problem.
Sorry.

My gst-inspect -b
still shows blacklisted:
libstbcmdec.so
libgstpython.so

Re: Rhythmbox and Movie Player - gstreamer plugins not found

Actually I already tried that, too, and no luck. Does anybody know how to fix the plugins so that they aren't blacklisted? That seems to be the issue here. Thanks!
