well... for disabling selinux on install is it "#noselinux" or "#selinux=0" ? Fedorafaq says selinux=0. Now, I just made an install with the command line "#linux selinux=0 reiserfs", I didn't get any error at that point and finished the install ok, with Linux on reiser. But... It doesn't boot. It says:
"bla bla bla...
Uncompressing Linux
Ran out of input data
-- system halted"
And halted it remains. What do you think? Is it the bad command with selinux? Or might it be something else? Do I have a chance to save the situation now, or should I perform a new install, using defaults to stay away from trouble? (The last one doesn't seem very... "linux-y". I am not a very experienced Linux user, but being able to have more control and room for exploration is one of the things I like about it. I like te challenge. Defaults seem dull.)

to make it more clear, I should mention that selinux doesn't work on reiserfs. According to fedorafaq

Same problem here.
Tried to make a install with 'linux selinux=0 reiserfs'.
It installs fine, jet on booting I get the 'Ran out of inputdata' error message.
Oh well, I selected the German language ... (I googled, and found one guy who staed that this errormsg went away as soon as he switcht languages ferom chinese to englich ... well ... whatever this has to to with that problem ;-)
Right at the moment I'm running the CD-Check to make sure the burned cds are ok ... (but I checked them beforehand for another installation about 1 month ago and everything went fine, however with ext3 not reiser).
Oh, well ... I'm trying to install Fedora Core 4

Keyboard Indicator and all panels GONE
At last! Please help. I have been using Fedora (tophat?) since July and have been unable to switch from English to French and back again on this French keyboard. The need is growing. Previously for several years, this was the perfect keyboard for work in both languages, before I switched to Linux. I need an applet on screen to work as a toggle and need help to find and to instal it. Other than that I really like Linux.

That was then. This is NOW.
Never let a KLUTZ click choices.
Not only was there no way to "add to panel" the "keyboard indiator" I was looking for, but somehow I deleted the set of four gray spaces in the panel (bottom right) that I use every day. They are GONE. Rebooting did not bring them back.
What can I do now?

After the hacker killed Windows and destroyed years of web-work, I had the same problem.
Finally, because no one in this small town uses Linux (no help here) I dragged my computer to the nearest city and a tech there set it up for me. Phone around to see who can.
(Unfortunately, many things were left undone.) Good luck.

If you are using Gnome -- and I assume you will do ;-), yust do an right-click on a panel (one of those grey thingies in the top or bottom of your screen) and choose the 'Keyboard Indicator' (The icon are many different country-flags). Whith it jou can switch between different Keyboard layouts and even install new ones.
Hope, this helps ...
Greetings from the snow -- Bavaria will have a white Chrismas :-)
