15-Alpha.TC1 ... Interesting.

I'm downloading it now. Haven't had a rawhide install for a while. Anyone else tried the Alpha?

I didn't hear about it either, but, I clicked on an old bookmark, and there it was.

I downloaded the DVD last night but still haven't had the time to burn it and see if it boots.

Re: 15-Alpha.TC1 ... Interesting.

It was great until it had to do firstboot, then it failed. I still haven't decided if I'll try to fix it or just use one of the nightlys.

Re: 15-Alpha.TC1 ... Interesting.

I really like it. Running the nightly live-cd build from 1/30, it really seems snappy and responsive on my testmachine (a netbook). Unfortunatly I can't install it at the moment; for some reason the live-installer fails saying "Can't do a live installation unless running from a live image" otherwise I would go ahead and install it. I've been trying unity out on this netbook periodically with the Ubuntu Natty alpha, gnome shell seems a lot more responsive and stable already at least on my hardware (intel video) .

GoinEasy, thanks for the link!

I downloaded and tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions both abended after installing with a python error. There is some new network interface GUI, too.

Hope this helps.

Re: 15-Alpha.TC1 ... Interesting.

I got similar errors with the nightly also:

Quote:
plymouthd: could not log boot up: already in use
The 15-Alpha DVD installed but wouldn't run firstboot. The Nightly stopped while booting with the plymouthd error. When trying to run firstboot after the alpha install, I also get the plymouthd error.

I'm trying to find some time to play with the DVD install to see if I can get past the plymouthd error.

Reviving this old thread won't get you an answer ... you should start a new thread or use the search function. I've seen this covered here before.
