F14 Dual Monitor - Firefox starts on wrong monitor

I just upgrade to F14 from F10 on a dual montor setup.
Firefox behaives differently on F14 than on F10.
On F10 it followed the mouse pointer's location and show up on the correct monitor

When maximized at close, it is always displayed on the left monitor.
When not maximized at close it will open on the monitor where the mouse pointer is located.

There are some guidlines about minimize/maximize Firefoxe before closing and it seems to
work in some case, but not for me.

Any ideas.

/Pelle

Re: F14 Dual Monitor - Firefox starts on wrong monitor

I would try using the xrandr '--primary' command (or '--left of' '--right of' commands).

Re: F14 Dual Monitor - Firefox starts on wrong monitor

I reviewed the man pages for xrandr but I think it is an Firefox issue.
All other app's are opened on the monitor where the mouse is location.
Firefox seems to start open, in a flicker, on the right monitor but moves over to the left side.

I guess there is an option somewhere in firefox for this.

Re: F14 Dual Monitor - Firefox starts on wrong monitor

Well I am not an expert, but my experience is that programs tend to open on the "Primary" monitor (when the monitors are not cloned).

Re: F14 Dual Monitor - Firefox starts on wrong monitor

Just wanna add that I have the same issue. I use xrandr to set my LCD monitor as primary. Every other app starts up in the primary monitor as expected... but firefox opens up on my secondary (left monitor which is my laptop screen). This only happens if I close firefox while its maximised. If I close firefox in the primary monitor while its a non-maximised window then it will open again in the correct primary monitor, no problem.

Most other apps I use don't experience this issue, including inkscape, open-office (writer), terminal screens, Bleachbit, etc.

Re: F14 Dual Monitor - Firefox starts on wrong monitor

I know this is an old thread, but I was hoping this issue would have been resolved with either the introduction of firefox4, or fedora15 (and gnome3). Alas no such luck and I'm still getting the exact same problem as to what i stated above. Has anyone else figured away around this (admittedly minor) issue?

Re: F14 Dual Monitor - Firefox starts on wrong monitor

I just registered here because I had the same problem and was able to solve it. Even when I disconnected the secondary monitor, Firefox started on the now invisible second one. The solution was this:

1 Make sure FF is not maximized
2 Enlarge your window by drawing the left side of a FF window to extend from you secondary monitor to your primary one (or v.v. when it has to move to the right monitor). FF shows over the whole 2 monitors now.
3 Now make it the normal size again by drawing the other side from your secondary monitor to the primary. FF now shows in the primary monitor only.
4 Close and re-open FF; it will start again in the primary monitor
