Re: Sound Blaster VX 5.1 driver needed

A solution is to download and install oss driver, oss-linux-v4.2-2004.i386.rpm from http://www.4front-tech.com/download.cgi, because ALSA driver seems no support for Sound Blaster 5.1vx.
After installation, you can find a oss driver file, oss_audigyis0 under /dev/oss .

As for media player, Totem can not select audio driver. So, please use GNOME MPlayer that can be installed from Fedora repository.

1) GNOME MPlayer: "Edit" -> "Preference", then on "Player" tab, you should select "OSS" as Audio Out, and "Stereo" or "5.1 Surround" as Audio Channel.

2) MPlayer: In case of DVD Video or Movie, I recommend the installation of ”GUI for MPlayer", mplayer-gui-1.0-0.119-20100703svn.fc14(i686) from RPM Fusion repository, because that more precise and wide selection of driver and output manipulation can be attained. In this case, DO NOT Forget the installation of Key Unlocking Program for DVD Movie, libdvdcss from the repository of rpm.livna.org .
Right click -> select "Preference", then you should select "oss OSS/loctl audio output" at "Audio" tab.

I'm waiting ALSA driver would include Sound Blaster 5.1vx near future. Good Luck!
