Workaround for pam: gdm-password "loop":

Switch to tty2and login with liveuser
  • su -c 'systemctl stop prefdm.service'

only way i can login is to use i think ctrl+alt+f2 and login that way . i'll have to torch up my usable Nightly compose an find out what GDM version itss using there. but when i googled the problem it was an old issue.

Re: Flickering GDM

it just means gdm is crashing; because it auto-spawns it 'flickers' because it's crashing, re-loading, crashing, re-loading...any time there's a crash on startup in gdm, this will happen, so it's not surprising you found old references to the same behaviour. It doesn't mean it's actually caused by the same bug.

I've seen this too, the workaround is to boot with command parameter '3', login as liveuser (no password) and run startx. I'll add a comment to the bug report.
