Regarding refresh rate in Fedora core 2

Hi!
Thanx for a great forum boys!

I'm having som problems with my refreshrate. I' currently running a Sony Multiscan G220(http://monitors.cz/SONY/m/17_G220.htm), which Fedora doesn't allow to run more than 1280x1024@60Hz...

open terminal and type: system-config-display in the hardware tab reconfigure your monitor by selecting the closest driver of your brand and see if that helps

I had the same Problem. The reason was my ATI graphics card. X was running with the generic vesa driver. After I installed the ATI driver the refresh rate was ok.

thanks for pointing that out, he/she did not mention video card but what i also see is that he's monitor driver is not there.

OK, let*s see my suggestion as second idea. It was a bit rash. I didn't pay enough attention to the configuration.

I clicked through to the page you linked with the monitor description. It says:

HORIZONTAL FREQUENCY: 30 to 96 kHz
VERTICAL FREQUENCY: 48 to 170 Hz

Try putting in the correct values for HorizSync and VertRefresh. Since the VertRefresh value you wish to use is within spec, the HorizSync is the critical one.

it's still locked on 60hz at 1280x1024..

Some of you guys with skills, make a fully functional xorg.conf file for me? with this screen?

so what you need to do was actually install video card drivers...
