logitech c910 in fedore core 14

Hello,

I just recently switched from M$, so I am very new this O.S. I am trying to figure my way around getting Logitech HD Webcam Pro c910 to be fully operational in Fedora Core 14. I think the web cam device is recognized fine by the OS. I need help with some finer details, as to what program to use with the web cam, how do I manage the device (is there a zoom function that can control the camera).

I don't have a separate microphone? Do I need one for use with Skype? The main program I want the webcam device working with is Skype for audio and video chat.

One issue I am running into when I use the 'Cheese' program is the image I see of myself is partially muffled. I mean top half of the picture is clear and bottom half of the picture is muffled. When I take a snapshot picture in Cheese, the picture is perfect, but realtime replay is clear (top 50%) and muffled (bottom 50%) of the Window. When I do recording in 'Cheese' the recording playback is also not ok'. Not sure what's going on there. Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Regards,

zak

Install guvcview to record good video off this webcam.

Otherwise, you need to lower the quality for the computer to keep up. If you're skyping then this is no big deal.

Hopefully the built-in drivers catch up to guvcview one day.
