what is the best method to upgrade FC9 to FC14

have FC9

would like FC14

hopefully with the least amount of hairpulling.

any suggestions?

I'd back up my data and reinstall. Anything else would leave you bald, I'm afraid.

yeah, and i just said the same thing to someone asking about FC5 -> FC14.... i guess i was holding out for the hope of some secret handshake or magic password. :P

This would be exactly my advice as well.

I would not risk upgrading when the number difference between releases is greater than 2, and if the difference is 2 -- I would advise to be prepared for anything. Done properly, in any case that would be probably a long and tiresome process.

I think only the upgrade to the next release is tested at all, and I can confirm that it is handled nowadays quite nicely. On both of my Fedora 13 installations (32 bit and 64 bit), on two different computers, the upgrade to 14 went smoothly (via recommended, so called, 'preupgrade' path).

Hi,

I second both guys. Backup and reinstall: Fedora is not a rolling distribution. Even for single version upgrades like F13->F14, see how many questions are posted on this forum... It's just not worth it - you'll spend more time fixing the issues than you'll save on backup and restore.
